How The Grinch Stole Christmas

It's the Christmas season and boy do we have a holiday special lined up for you: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Yes, Jim Carrey and Ron Howard team up to deliver a fart filled adaptation of your favourite Christmas classic. Grace and Champ blogger Jessica Holt and Anita Bourgeois join Colin and Gregg in an attempt to punch up this Joel Schumacher-eques mess. Together they ponder if the actors could breath under that heavy Who-makeup, ask whether Jim Carrey was the right Grinchy fit and all agreed that the dog, Max, is just the best. Hey film gleeks (that's film enthusiasts who have trouble controlling their saliva), it's another Side Notes episode. Mortal Kombat

MORTAL KOMBAT!! If you were a 90s kid who grew up on a steady video game diet of fighters you will immediately have the MK techno theme song blaring in you head hearing those words. Yup, this month we take on what is probably still one of the best video game movies ever made, sadly the bar has never been lifted very high. We have an all cartoonist panel this month. Edmonton cartoonist extraordinaire Chad Huculak, author of the brilliant End of the Earth, and Jeremy Die, the other half of the Inglorious Hipsters duo, join Colin & Gregg in an attempt to fix a movie that was hardly a flawless victory. Side Notes – White House Down

Welcome back to Side Notes, our mid-month mini episode in which Colin and Gregg discuss the world of entertainment. Colin discusses his progressive exhaustion with "grim and gritty" comic book adaptations, the bizzaro flick The Lobster, hard sci-fi film Arrival and the confounding story devices used in London has Fallen. Gregg reviews the US election, professes his love for Arrival and turns his brain off for Netflix's Paranoid. Our next full episode attempts to fix the seminal 90s video game adaptation, Mortal Kombat! Catch that episode on November 28th.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

The first full episode of Season 2 also happens to be our Halloween Spooktacular, in that we half-heartly picked a mediocre 90s slasher flick to fix. Ah the nineties, when NBC ruled the ratings, comic artists were obsessed with underboob and PG-13 "horror" films crushed it at the box office. This month we take on I Know What You Did Last Summer, a movie that wouldn't raise your grandma's heartbeat. We examine what to keep (not much) what to cut (Freddie Prince Jr.) and what to change to fix this dull slasher. Our guests this week are fan favourites Erin Beever and Marky Mark Jowett!

Side Notes - Season Two

I Have Some Notes returns for Season Two…sort of! While this a "Side Notes" episode, the mini episodes will now be a permanent feature of the show used to tee up our next full episode, as well as chat about what we've been watching and the movie world at large. That means you the listener will be getting two episodes of I Have Some Notes a month instead of one. That's like *counts fingers and toes* like double the amount of episodes! In this mini-episode Colin and Gregg talk about some tweaks to the show format and get you ready for our next episode: I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, the "classic" 90s slasher flick. Erin Beever and Mark Jowett also join the crew to discuss Pokemon Go, the Vatican, Battlestar Galactica, TV watching habits and a weird Jake Gyllenhaal movie with a bonkers concept.

We're going away for a while. Colin is getting married and Gregg is off to Italy with his wife and frequent podcast guest Erin. So, in light of that, we've got another Side Notes episode to tide you over until season 2 gets started. This episode features some previously edited bits from our Star Trek: Generations episode in white Sam Power professes her love for Star Trek: The Motion Picture and asked the poignant question…is Riker the hottest? We'll see you hopefully near the end of October for season 2 of I Have Some Notes.

Side Notes - Summer Movie Wrap Up

As promised, we'll be publishing some sub-episodes this summer while we're on break. We're calling these little podcast diversions Sides Notes. This episode Colin & Gregg chat about the summer that was in movies, what they enjoyed, what they didn't and what they're looking forward to in what's left of the movie calendar. Gregg expresses his love for disaster movies, his appreciation for things named Cloverfield and his complicated relationship with Ghostbuster 2016. Colin enlightens us on the Divergent series, explains how he came to watch Batman v Superman twice, and looks forward to a movie with no name. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

It's our season finale! And what a doozy we have as we crunch the numbers and calculate how best to correct the 4th Indiana Jones film. Yes, the one with aliens. It's like Close Encounters of Third Kind and George Lucas had a baby, and Steven Spielberg was left to raise the child on his own. Our guests for the season wrap-up are two noted nerds, comic store owners Danica LeBlanc and Brandon Schatz from Variant Edition. Together we try to solve the essential question…why are there gophers in this movie? Well, that and a few other questions, mostly surrounding what the heck anyone was doing ever. Also, Gregg spends a great deal of time defending Shia LaBeouf. Huge thanks to everyone who made our first season a success! Thanks so much for listening, we'll see you again in the fall.

Prometheus

Prometheus is a very divisive movie. Some fans triumph its beauty, world building and willingness to tackle some big themes. Others bemoan its confusing script and the high rate of baffling decisions made by its main characters. In other words, it was a movie made for this podcast! Scott C. Bourgeois, formerly of The Unknown Studio fame, joins us along with returning guest Erin Beever to unravel this confounding sci-fi masterpiece. We jump into the Med-Pod and perform abdominal surgery on Prometheus, pulling out all its entrails and then trying in vain to put everything back better than when we found it.
